Jade and I went down to La Jolla and did a shoot with her cousin and family. They were staying at a cool little condo by the beach with their two year old, Dillon, and six month old, Bella. The baby is absolutely the happiest baby you’ve ever seen, always smiling and laughing, like a crazy, chubby, little bald woman.
We headed down to the beach and Jade almost fell off a cliff. She swears she didn’t but her life was flashing before my eyes. The hill leading to the location was really steep and when I was crawling back up my legs started giving way and I almost rolled all the way back down. If it hadn’t been for the simple grace of God (and my mother quickly grasping my arm) I would have broken my beautiful face on the jagged rocks below.
Next we went further down the beach and witnessed The Man Gorilla – I feel like it’s important to draw the relative distinction between Man Gorilla and Gorilla Man. This beast wore a speedo and carried a surfboard, but certainly he was not one of us. His body was so covered in hair we were all certain that he must be at least one step down on the evolutionary ladder. Listen, I’ve seen a dog ride a surfboard, I know it’s possible.
There were also a few Mormons I saw and for a second I thought they were going to come talk to me but I averted my eyes and then, after I thought that certainly wasn’t enough, I just pretended to be asleep – maybe they’d talk to Jade’s grandma or something. They passed just as Magilla the Gorilla Man had and then there was peace again. The shoot was over and we all went home and ate spaghetti.

Oh, and an awesome outtake of my grandma dressed up as a hobo. This little lady is too spunky for her own good.
